Death details: On September 24, 2018, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of Private First Class Lewis E. Price, missing from World War II. Private First Class Price, who entered the U.S. Army from Tennessee, was a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. On November 6, 1944, he killed in action while on a reconnaissance patrol southwest of Hürtgen, Germany, during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest. His body was not recovered at the time of his loss due to ongoing combat in the area. In 2016, DPAA analysts reviewed remains recovered north of Germeter, near the suspected area of PFC Price’s loss. In 2018, U.S. analysts identified these recovered remains as those of PFC Price.
