Death details: He was found fatally wounded in a bedroom in the family home in Scales Mount. The coroner ruled he died of a n accidental gunshot wound in the chest. He was spending a 10-day furlouh at home. His father fund him when he returned from the railroad station to see why his son hadn’t appeared for his departure to his base. He died while en route to a hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. The Pearl City News said the corner rules it a suicide. The Rockford Morning Star reported a coroner’s jury ruled it an accident.
