I’m not certain as to why the above information was placed here for my John. You list date of death as Unknown and list the National Archives as your source but John’s information has always been there. Perhaps John’s details were of little importance to the Admin who placed this info here therefore not worthy of a few more moments of reading or typing therefore I will Honor this fallen Soldier, a young man of Courage, Bravery, & Pride from Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, Nc in case,at anytime were his family to happen upon this site, they will know that their family member who I call “my John” meant enough to me to take the extra time to honor his life right here today.
PFC John D. (Dillard) Griswold
born-January 8, 1920
was killed in front line combat action, fighting along side his comrades in the United States Army🇺🇸 among the bravest and toughest soldiers, these boots and bullets
fiercely appeared without warning or insight. These soldiers were the first to hit the ground, the US Army is here.
Co. A 39th inf. (Nc) .
John was killed in action fighting for his Country on August 1, 1943 during
WW II.
