Death details: On June 30, 2023, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of Sergeant Stanley Turba, missing from the Korean War. Sergeant Turba entered the U.S. Army from Pennsylvania and served in C Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action following a firefight with Chinese People’s Volunteer Forces in an area between the villages of Inje and Yang-gu, Republic of Korea. In October 2022, during a joint forensic review, the R.O.K. Ministry of National Defense Agency for Killed in Action Recovery and Identification (MAKRI) turned over to the DPAA laboratory remains recovered from the area where SGT Turba disappeared. The laboratory analysis and the totality of the circumstantial evidence available confirmed an association between these remains and SGT Turba. Sergeant Turba is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. His name is also inscribed on the Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC, which was updated in 2022 to include the names of the fallen.
