Date of death: Saturday, September 25, 1993

Death details: While flying on a night reconnaissance mission over Mogadishu, Somalia’s capitol city, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired from a roof top.  It went through the open side door of the helicopter and exploded, killing Matthew and two other soldiers in the back.
