  1. James Woodrow Cline was my mother’s younger brother, born Oct. 17, 1920, and died May 11, 1945. His ship was in the Pacific and was dive-bombed by a Japanese Kamikaze. I understand he was in the galley, was killed instantly and went down with the ship. Remains never recovered. He was my mother’s favorite brother (there were 11 children). The father was a telegrapher for the railroad in the Midwest; but during the Depression, the family moved to California (Dinuba) to find work. One of the other brothers, also a Navy cook, Harold Ray Cline, was at Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack, December 7, 1941. Harold survived, became a butcher, raised a family and passed away in 2002.
