Peter Gibney Moriarty, age 29, from Newington, Connecticut.

Date of death: Monday, March 22, 1971
Death details: On March 22, 1971, he piloted a single-seated F-100 Super Sabre (tail number 3180, call sign “Blade 82”) on a combat mission against enemy targets in Laos. As Capt Moriarty made a pass over the target area, his aircraft was hit by ground fire, causing it to crash in the vicinity of (GC) XD 634 395. No parachutes emerged from the Super Sabre before it went down. Search and rescue teams were unable to investigate the crash area due to heavy enemy presence, Capt Moriarty was not seen again following the incident. His remains have not been recovered. Today, Captain Moriarty is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
