Broms, Edward James Jr.
Navy Lieutenant Commander

Edward James Jr. Broms from Meadville, Pennsylvania, Crawford county.
Service era: Vietnam
Date of death: August 1, 1968
Death details: On October 14, 2011, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC, now DPAA) identified the remains of Lieutenant Commander Edward James Broms Jr., missing from the Vietnam War.
Lieutenant Commander Broms joined the U.S. Navy from Pennsylvania and was a member of Attack Squadron 66. On August 1, 1968, he piloted an A-4C Skyhawk that crashed while attacking enemy targets in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam. Immediate search and rescue efforts found no sign of LCDR Broms. In 1993, a Vietnamese local turned in remains recovered from the Skyhawk’s crash site to a joint U.S./Vietnamese search team. In 2011, advances in forensic techniques allowed for the returned remains to be identified as those of LCDR Broms.
