Army Lt. Quentin A. Teige, 25, of Marinette, Wisconsin was killed in action May 24, 1944. His son was six years-old at the time. Now a retired Air Force major, his son recently shared his story on his dad’s profiles on our site: “Quentin was my father, we now know that his P 38 was shot down 24 May. 1944, 2 days before my 6th birthday, near Hofstetten, Austria. The crash site was found and identified in 1949, and remains were returned home for burial in January, 1951. Donovan of Delta County, Col. was aboard a plane shot down May 19, 1965 in Vietnam. “He only has been presumed to be dead,” his wife said a year later after the government issued the statement. “I still hope.” Leroy remains unaccounted for.
