Wilmer Newlin Grubb, age 33, from Delaware County Aldan, Pennsylvania .

Date of death: Friday, February 4, 1966
Death details: On April 3, 1974, the Central Identification Laboratory-Thailand (CILTHAI, now DPAA) identified the remains of Lieutenant Colonel Wilmer Newlin Grubb, missing from the Vietnam War. Lieutenant Colonel Grubb entered the U.S. Air Force from Pennsylvania and served with the 20th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On January 26, 1966, he was the pilot of an RF-101C Voodoo (serial number 56-0084) on a photographic reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam. His aircraft crashed during the mission and he was captured by enemy forces. He died while in enemy captivity on February 4. In 1974, and his remains were returned by the Vietnamese government and U.S. analysts confirmed these remains as those of LTC Grubb. His name is also inscribed along with all his fallen comrades on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
