Lloyd D. Stidham from Kentucky, Breathitt county.
Service era: Korea
Date of death: Monday, November 27, 1950
Death details: On February 19, 2009, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC, now DPAA) identified the remains of Corporal Lloyd Dale Stidham, missing from the Korean War. Corporal Stidham entered the U.S. Army from Kentucky and was a member of Company C, 65th Combat Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. On November 27, 1950, Company C was holding a position near Hill 222, just south of the Kuryong River in the Pyongan-Pukto Province of North Korea, when they came under attack by Chinese Communist Forces. CPL Stidham was killed during this combat and his body was not recovered at the time. In 2000, a joint U.S./North Korean team excavated a burial site at Hill 222 and recovered human remains; U.S. analysts used modern forensic techniques to eventually identify CPL Stidham among the remains recovered.
