Morris, Robert John Jr.

Death details: On October 25, 1977, the Central Identification Laboratory-Hawaii (CILHI, now DPAA) identified the remains of Captain Robert John Morris Jr., missing from the Vietnam War.

Captain Morris entered the U.S. Air Force from Missouri and was a member of the 716th Bombardment Squadron, 307th Bombardment Wing. On December 26, 1972, he piloted a B-52D Stratofortress (tail number 56-0674, call sign “Ebony 2”) on a bombing mission over North Vietnam. The aircraft was hit by enemy fire and crashed near Hanoi. Capt Morris did not survive the incident and his remains were not recovered at the time of his loss. The Vietnamese government later repatriated remains associated with this loss that U.S. analysts identified as those of Capt Morris.
