Death details: Died after he and Petty Officer Justin McNeley left their base. Media outlets have reported the pair left base in a white armored SUV. The incident occurred 60 miles from base. They were traveling alone, though military procedure calls for a convoy to protect against attacks. Newlove was listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknow. The Taliban claimed to have captured Newlove but his body was recovered in a river July 28, 2010.
